Makrinitsa is a small Greek village which sits on the Pelion Mountain, only at 17 km away from Volos – one of the largest port city in Greece.
The village is such a dreamy place with an unique architecture: the traditional houses are built amphiteatrically one above the other, lined up on the mountain, most of them revealing a beautiful view over the Pagasitikos Gulf.
The central square of the village is shadowed by few platanus old by centuries. After wandering the cobbled streets, we went to eat something at one of those Greek tavern, and time flew slowly while we rested and chilled under an old platanus and enjoyed a beautiful view over Volos City.
We stayed at Archontiko Margaritis, a traditional guest house built in 1884, having an amazing classic architecture and offering the same breathtaking view over the sea and the Volos City. The breakfast was served in the garden, and it was so tasty and full with so many delicious Greek home made specialties. I barely succeed to taste a little bit from each ones.
Around the central square are many traditional stores which sell local herbs and hand made Greek specialties.
