I have visited Amsterdam some time ago, during one single trip together with Bruges, Ghent and Brussels (here you can read my guide about visiting Belgian cities).
Amsterdam is a lovely place for walks alongside the canals, there being many good options for cafés and vegan food (I love vegan food, without being a vegan). Don’t worry if the weather is not too nice to you, because Amsterdam has some extraordinary indoor places waiting for you to visit. It is the host of Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank and Rembrandt houses, one of the most remarkable places if you are visit it for the first time. But there is some more sightseeing which I recommend if you visit Amsterdam:
Museum Van Loon is a canal house, not so touristy, with a beautiful facade and a romantic garden laying behind the house. It reveals some impressive pieces of furniture from different centuries.
Tassen Museum – for the fashion enthusiasts, is the largest museum of bags and purses in the world. Also there is a good place to eat and a small coffee with a good view from the window.
Rijksmuseum, the Dutch National Museum, showcasing its history and art.
The Amsterdam Museum – if you are passionate about history, here you’ll find more about history of Amsterdam and how it became today’s city.
