Cheking in: The Student Hotel Florence
Visiting Florence is like visiting an open-air museum. This is what I knew about Florence before I went here: the heart of the Renaissance, Florence’s beauty was appreciated by many artists along the history. And during the spring the beauty of Florence is even more obvious.
Although travel is generally made for sightseeing purposes, the accommodation has always been important to me, since is part of the trip and it feels so good that after a day of exploring and wandering the city to return to a pleasant place. During our trip in Florence, we stayed at The Student Hotel Florence (TSH), optimally located at 15 min walk from Santa Maria Novella (the main attraction in Florence) and also a 10 minute walk from the train station. We enjoyed our stay at The Student Hotel as much as we loved Florence. And the best part is that from its rooftop terrace we had one of the best views over the city.

The Student Hotel is addressed to those who keep their “student spirit” alive, for the curious and for those who love to try new experiences. This is why the key message is “May the student in you never die“. Having an unconventional approach and being a place that encourages the creativity, The Student Hotel is open to international students who stay there for a semester up to a year, being a great place to study, work together and make friends. Also, TSH is opened to guests who stay there from one night and short stay guests who spend a month or more. During our stay we understood why The Student Hotel is more than a hotel: it is a new concept of hotel, a university campus and a co-working space. It is vibrant, unique and has a cool design, a place where people study, works together, socialize, and a pleasant accommodation for tourists. TSH Collab is a meet & work concept which encourages creativity and social life. There are co-working spaces, where people meet and work together. The Student Hotel also hosts special events for guests and locals.
Among facilities there is a gym, a laundry room, a bar and a restaurant and the guests have access to the cool VanMoof bicycles in order to explore the city in style.
But what would be this new concept of hotel without a rooftop pool with the best views over Florence? We had the most amazing views over Santa Maria Novella and the city and the most memorable sunsets from the rooftop terrace. Even if you will not stay at The Student Hotel, their rooftop terrace is the best place to watch the sunset and have a glass of wine if you ever visit Florence.
The Student Hotel is a hotelier chain present in 5 countries (the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Italy and France). Currently that chain comprises 12 hotels, but there are more opening planned across Europe every year. The next one will open in Berlin in October this year.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt a friendly and cool atmosphere and Florence would not have been the same without The Student Hotel experience: its unconventional and cool style and design, its rooftop terrace where we had the most amazing views over the city and the most memorable sunsets, but also the chill and relaxing mornings.
