A trip to Transylvania is like returning back in time, back to the folk traditions, to the authentic culture and to the simplicity of life. Transylvania is the most iconic and culturally important region in Romania which brings together the most beautiful villages, fortified churches, castles and the most picturesque landscapes in the country.
One of those hidden places in the heart of Transylvania is Rimetea, the Szekler village located at the base of the Trascău Mountains and 56 km away from Alba-Iulia.
The scenery which seemed like it hasn’t changed much for centuries is dominated by the white simple houses decorated with green shutters, where old villagers are sitting on a bench, resting at the end of the day after working hard the fields. The quietness given by the surrounding Trascău Mountains makes Rimetea a hidden treasure among the places to visit in Romania. No wonder why this village was added to the UNESCO Heritage sites.
