Aside its cultural background as the birth place of Mozart, Salzburg has an elegant architecture with many path walks which lead to panoramic views, being an amazing citybreak and a great base city for outdoor escapes into the Alps. Recently I visited Salzburg for its Christmas markets, the festive decorations and wooden chalets making it a perfect winter destination.
Checking in: Motel One Salzburg-Süd
Motel One is a chain of affordable design hotels, well known for its great price and particular design. With high quality standards in matter of comfort and services, a sustainable approach, a diverse and organic breakfast and a unique design, Motel One is among the few which offers the best value for money.
We had an amazing time staying there, in order to visit Salzburg and its Christmas Markets. From the very moment I stepped in, I was greeted by an intimate and elegant atmosphere, the lights and the design of the hotel’s lounge making for a great first impression.
During my stay at Motel One Salzburg-Süd, I found the essential attributes which I’m always searching for when I’m choosing a hotel, without costing an arm and a leg: the bedroom and the quality of sleep, the breakfast and the location. And Motel One has it all and even more.
The hotel lounge is an ideal place to relax, read, work on the computer or just spent some quality time with your friends, if you’re not traveling alone. It felt so good when we returned from the city-center in a place like this, after a day of exploring Salzburg. During the morning, the elegant lounge area is the place where breakfast is served, which makes breakfast time even more pleasant and enjoyable.
The location of Motel One Salzburg-Süd and the most important attractions nearby
There are two hotels Motel One in Salzburg. The one we stayed at, Motel One Salzburg-Süd is 3.5 km far away from the city center, Christmas markets and 1.5 Km away from Hellbrunn Palace. Overlooking the Alps, the hotel is ideally located in a tranquil area, and the bus station with direct connections to the city center is just across the street.
The vicinity of mountains and alpine resorts makes the Salzburg area a great destination all year round: during winter there are endless options for winter sports and, during summer there are plenty of options for outdoor activities and hikes. My favorite day trip from Salzburg remains the famous Hallstatt, which is only at 1 hour and a half away by car.
The breakfast at Motel One
A good day starts with a good and diverse breakfast and I loved the one served at Motel One. The hotel goes for an urban bio breakfast concept, which means that the service consists of a great selection of organic products at breakfast. Since I am trying to maintain a sustainable way of living, I loved it when I found out about this concept, which I am following during my travels as well.
The design of Motel One Salzburg-Süd is inspired by the Austrian traditions and by the nature up to the smallest detail: the wooden tables, the photography from the lounge area and from the rooms, the bar and reception area which features three of the Salzburg region’s famous mountains: the Ochsenkopf, the Drei Zinthörner and the Kitzsteinhorn, or the seating nooks which are made by fabrics inspired by the traditional attire known as Trachten. All these are details that make a great difference and turn Motel One into more than a hotel, but a place where to find inspiration. I am so happy that I found this brand! From now on, everytime I travel, I will check out whether there is a Motel One available.
